NBC agrees to pay O’Brien and his staff a severance package in the area of $40 million (U.S.). The Wall Street Journal put that figure at $44 million; $32 million for O’Brien and $12 million for his staff. In return, O’Brien is free to pursue work with another network beginning on Sept. 1.
